Manipur has been deeply affected by more than 50 years of armed insurgency and counter insurgency operations of the state. A deeply impoverished lawless state with endless human right violations and violence.
The situation has been fueled over the years by deprivation, indifference, systemic corruption, criminal & smuggling syndicates, armed militias and extreme inequalities.
Since 3rd May 2026, Manipur has been reeling under its worst communal civil war, leading to one of the largest population of internally displaced people (IDPs) in independent India. Majority of the population remained highly oppressed and have no free movement for years. The economy, law & order, governance and institutions remain shattered.
Today, Manipur remain largely forgotten and invisible. Manipur is the lesser known Gaza of India.
